Plaza and Cathedral (Then & Now)

The postcard is from 1907, and looks across the Plaza de la Constitucion toward the cathedral. The obelisk on the left is the Constitution Monument, constructed in 1813 (2nd Spanish period) in celebration of a newly formed government in Spain.

One can't help but wonder if the skinny little tree on the postcard grew into the massive oak of today which obscures the view of everything on the other side of Cathedral Place!

Confidence in location accuracy: 100%

See for yourself: stand on the sidewalk on the southern side of the plaza.

We offer a beautiful reproduction postcard of the older image here. The price includes a 51-cent "forever" postcard stamp.
